EQ How do I conduct a two proportion test?

TSWBAT conduct a two proportion test

SIMULATION 1: Chocolate vs. Vanilla?

Get one die, one coin. The coin is a randomly selected girl, the die is a randomly selected boy.

Let’s assume boys and girls like vanilla and chocolate equally (50%/50%), but pretend you don’t know it.

123- likes chocolate 456- likes vanilla

H- likes chocolate T- likes vanilla

Simulate asking at least 30 boys and girls whether or not they like chocolate or vanilla. Find the count and the proportion for the number of boys who prefer chocolate.

Create a 95% confidence interval for the difference in the proportion of boys and girls who prefer chocolate.

Based on your simulated data, is there a difference between the percent of boys who prefer chocolate and the percent of girls who do. Perform a two sample test for proportions to check and explain.

SIMULATION 2: Are girls more likely to have watched all the twilight films

Get one die, one coin. The coin is a randomly selected girl, the die is a randomly selected boy.

Let’s assume 1/3 of boys have seen all the twilight movies and 1/2 of the girls have, but pretend you don’t know it.

12- Seen all twilight 3456-

H- Seen all twilight T- hasn’t seen all twilight

Simulate asking at least 30 boys and girls whether or not they like have seem all twilights. Find the count and the proportion for the number of boys and girls who have seen all the twilight movies

Create a 95% confidence interval for the difference in the proportion of boys and girls who have seen all the twilights.

Based on your simulated data, is there a difference between the percent of boys who prefer chocolate and the percent of girls who do. Perform a two sample test for proportions to check and explain.
